As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Again with the childhood stuff... We all had to write what we wanted to do when we grew up, or had some idea at least. I'm curious to see the results. What did you want to be when you grew up, and did you fulfill that by becoming what you wanted?
Personally, I could never make up my mind until the tail end of HS. I decided to be a computer technician (break/fix). Yes, I did become a pc tech., but I no longer do any work in that field.
So what about everyone else here?

I have one of those "What I want to be when I up pictures" from when I was 7, and it says archaeologist. Next year Im heading to university to do a bachelor of archaeological practice.
I also wanted to be a basketball player, but at 5'8 I don't think that one will work out.

I wanted to be a cartoonist growing up. Ended up getting a BS in Psychology and currently I'm enrolled in the Mental Health Counseling masters program. As far as I've gotten in the program, if given the chance, I probably would have majored in something totally different... Perhaps computers for job security, or audio engineering to pursue a hidden passion.

i remember my dreams of becoming an "inventor" of sorts..you know those crazy scientists, engineers etc, in cartoons and movies, who invents new technology or building cool gadgets, machines and stuff..

When I was really little? A farmer, that's what most of my family was.
Then I soon realised I wanted to be retired. Still working on it at 21..

My parents will mention at times my humble aspirations, when I was ~5 I wanted to be a paper boy when I grew up. In my defense, I was for a while in slightly later years!
In my final year of primary school (age 10/11) is when we started doing some science and I was hooked. Took all the sciences at high school and then spent 10 years at university, still technically finishing off my studies (writing) but hold a research position too.
I'm still waiting to grow up

I wanted to be a football player. Somehow the fact that I have no athletic ability got in the way of that happening. Therefore, I decided to major in math and become an actuary. Just what every kid dreams of!

Growing up around a dad who was a career military man and would to this day bleed red white and blue if you cut him, all I ever wanted to do was be one of the guys who kicked in doors and blew s%!t up to keep America safe from evil.
I wound up getting my chance and after a while I had all I wanted and got out. From that day to this day I still haven't decided what i want to do with the rest of my life.
In the interim, I worked several different jobs, and played a lot of music, and was lucky enough to make enough to retire in my late 30's, but I'm still looking for what i want to dedicate my life to besides wifey and our marriage.

First (I'm talking about the very beginning) I thought I'd become a scientist or a tech or something.
By the teens....I wanted retribution on the world and figured being a rock star would be a way to have my voice heard and get paid for it.
By my mid/late 20s, here I am again, after learning you can have the best ideas ever but it means **** if you aren't seen as a leader by anyone (and it's primarily related to image), so I'm trying to become a tech.

Scientist! I wanted to be a chemist, an astrophysicist, or an oceanographer (I watched a lot of Jacques Cousteau TV specials - remember those?).
I didn't quite make it. BA in Math, MS in Computational Finance, and I work for a bank. It pays the bills.

I think the Dean Martin roasts affected me as a kid. They made it look so cool.
I eventually achieved my childhood goal, but it was nothing like the roasts portrayed. Currently 10 years alcohol free.
