Sign in to disble this ad
So I and my colleagues were doing the old reminiscing about our fav superheroes and cartoons. It got me to thinking, I know in the U.S. we have ppl like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, etc but what about ppl in other countries? What are superheroes or cartoon characters that are popular or prominent in your growing up?

Dragon Ball and Dragonball Z are definitely the top 2 series of my childhood

other ones were rugrats, angry beavers, hey arnold, yu gi oh, pokemon, rockos modern life, kenan and kel, and wow so many more..

the movie that defined my childhood was toy story, i watched it again 15 years later and i still laughed!

Im more interested in my international brothers chiming in (no offense lol). I know that Sportacus was like a superhero in Iceland, and I used to read Asterix books.

When I visited my Grandma in Mexico I remember Mascara Rojas, Aguila Negro, Blue Demon (who is a luchadore and a LOT of Mexican superheroes are luchadores), Aqua ( which was a team of superheroes, and El Arsenal was my favorite. Most of them were on re-runs though.

I was more into Scooby Doo, Popeye and Woody Woodpecker when I was a kid rather than Batman, SpiderMan..etc..

In French-speaking Quebec, like other French-speaking parts of the world, the big hero is Tintin. I remember when I was a kid I'd read all his adventure books, which were hard-cover comics.

And Belgium.

And like, the other countries of the world where it's been translated into English. I have a bunch of Tintin books.

Here's a bunch of comic book superheroes from India!

Doga:

Dhruva:

Nagraj:

Parmanu:

These characters are popular in the predominantly Hindi speaking north of India compared to other regions, where Hindi is not the native language.
