Hardly shocking. Hippos are mean.

I'll just leave this right here:

unbelievably stupid... hippos are wild animals. ;look at my quote below from the last paragraph of the referenced article.

i did not know about the "combined" figure, but I knew they killed more people than virtually any animal.

what can i say, except when you insist on having your own way and keeping some wild beast as a pet, you are not just gambling with your own life, property, etc....you are betting the lives of your neighbors and anyone else who may wonder by.

this is a classic example of your liberty stopping where the other fellow's nose begins....at least it appears no one else was killed but the idiot who "owned" Humphrey.

QUOTE FROM ARTICLE:

"Armed with giant canine teeth, hippos are said to kill more people each year than lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo and rhinos combined. They can move at speeds of up to 30mph despite weighing up to three tonnes."

Another thing worth noting is that Steve Irwin said the most dangerous thing he did on his show was a 5 minute sequence when he and his camera crew had to cross a river filled with hippos. They're big, extremely territorial, and kill more people than any other animal in Africa.

Another quote from the article:

He regarded the hippo as "loveable" and a "gentle giant".
It's a hippo. It is a giant, dangerous wild animal. Geez people

Why can't people just keep it limited to cats & dogs?
