For Christ's sake, GO TO THE DOCTOR!

My step-dad passed away from cancer at 12:02 am sunday morning.

He had cancer in his esophogus that spread to his lungs and stomach.

We didn't find out he had cancer until he finally went to the doctor because he was having trouble swallowing solid foods.

The rub?

For years, we had teased him about eating to fast... But he never went to the doctor, and we never really gave it much thought.

If he had gone to the doctor, we could have caught it when it was operable and he would probably be still be alive and kickin' it right now.

If something is up, get over your pride and go see the effing doctor.

Its a total man thing. We all hate going to the doctor... But sack up, go to the doctor, and find out whats up.

You may just save yourself and your family from a lot of pain.

/rant

Also, thank you Mike V.

Sorry to here about your loss,
my best mate was unwell over a year ago & (being a bloke) refused to go a see his Doctor, anyway he has pancreatic cancer, it's been the saddest time of my life seeing him ill & fading, he probably has 5 or 6 months left and I know how you feel know someone could have visited a Doctor and have a chance of getting sorted.
Good luck mate

Very true. My wife worked the cancer wing at her last job and it seemed like every week there was a new patient who found out purely by accident (one literally because she got in an auto accident). Get all your physical abnormalities checked out.

Mike

I haven't been to a doctor in over 10 years, and don't plan to anytime soon. That stuff isn't free.

Very sorry for you and your family's loss.

I am 50 and should get a colonoscopy. But I take vitamins and probiotics, and exercise like a madman. You could set your watch by my bowels.

Not going to the doctor is a stupid idea, no offense.

I realize money is an issue in the states, but it's still not very healthy.

one question, because I am curious...

is eating fast a symptom of this cancer?

cause people always tell me I eat really fast and now you have me worried.

Mike, man I am so sorry to hear this happened. My first wife worked in cancer treatment (radiation therapy), and I heard all kinds of sad stories like this.

I hope that you will take the lesson to heart throughout your life and see a doctor regularly.

An ounce of prevention is always worth a minimum of a pound of cure.

No no no... he was having problems swallowing, so we would tell him to stop eating so fast even though he wasn't. He was eating at a normal eating uh... rate of speed.
