Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian

Who else has seen it?

Went and saw it this afternoon. I enjoyed it as much as the first one, well done, kept me entertained (overwhelmed my wife a bit with violence, but I didn't find it gratuitous at all), the CGI work was obvious, but still well done.

Thought it was over-all excellent.

Anyone else? (I searched, didn't find any threads on it yet...)

(I still like The Golden Compass stories better, but that's for a personal reason I won't go into...but hey, I share a last name with the guy that wrote the Chronicles stories! )

I thought it was way better than the first one. The books were obviously written as children's books (I still read them all about once a year), but I have always thought that they would be fantastic directed at an older audience. They did that with this movie. I really liked how close they stuck to the book (they did a fantastic job with the first as well). I got annoyed by the fabricated "love story" between Susan and Caspian, and the song at the end did not fit at all, well the lyrics did, but the mood did not. Other than that I have grips with it and I will be buying it when it comes to DVD.

I saw it today and was a bit disappointed. I have read these books over and over again many times since the first time when I was in the 4th grade and I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe every year with my 4th grade class. I really liked the first movie and thought that it stuck about as close to the book as a movie adaptation can. However this one strayed much further from the book. If that were my only complaint that would be fine but I thought that some of the dialogue and acting were pretty forced and the fight between Miraz and Peter was horribly choreographed..very weak. I didn't hate it and I had fun watching it but I was disappointed after what I felt like was an excellent movie adaptation in L,W&tW.

High points were Edmund's character overall, the expectedly excellent effects from WETA, some of the gags (although I felt there were too many of them to the point that it was a little too goofy but I laughed at what the mice did to the cat - the mice playing bagpipes nearly single-handedly ruined the movie though), the big battle.

What's up with the centaurs? They didn't seem nearly as cool as the first one...just lacked presence or something...and the waifishly, model-thin centaur woman? I don't think so.

They've probably been there already.
