Cigar Reccomendations

I started smoking cigars on occasion this year, and I was wandering what to look for in a good cigar. I started on really cheap white owls for about 80cents, then I tried a Romeo Y Julieta Dominican for $7.50.

Was wandering how you can tell good cigars from bad. In short, what makes a good cigar a good cigar? Tryign to build some culture and class here.

Im looking for smooth and a lot of flavor.

Well, taste and smell obviously.

Also if they are not to dry. And a good cigar should burn equally around the wrapper.

Keep to big cigars, especially as beginner. If you're going to try small cigarillos there's a chance you'll get addicted and start smoking a lot.

My favourite is Oud Kampen Senoritas. Dutch cigars, full taste although a tad strong.

I'm also smoking a lot of small cigars Mercator Red Junior during the day. I should try to cut back.

Note: I do not endorse smoking.
A good cigar on occasions is a delight, but remember moderation.
Don't let it get an addiction.

Yeah dont worry Im not addicted. I just like one about once a month. I also like fine wines and such. Just more of a "I like to be classy" thing.

Try a Macanudo. They're pretty mild but still have a nice flavor. I also like Punch and H. Upmann, and occasionally splurge on a Cohiba.
I used to like Romeo y Juliettas, but any more they seem a bit harsh to me.

For relatively newb tastes, I agree with the Macanudo suggestion. They are VERY mild, too much so for me. You might also want to check out the regular Fuente line. More flavor than Macadoodoos, but still mild.

A good store will be a great help, just as a knowledgeable salesperson in a music store can steer you to good instruments for you, so can a knowledgeable cigar salesperson.

Ahh, JR Cigars is 15 minutes from my house... I'm there from time to time.

My favorite is a Rocky Patel Fusion... Rocky does some great sticks, but the Fusion is stellar.

Padron's are wonderful and Romeo y Juliettas are nice as well.

When I first got into cigars, I'd ask for recommendations, and I kept a log of what I liked and what I didn't. I tried to describe the tastes, so I could turn around and explain to another person, who I would ask for another recommendation in turn.

But, try the Rocky if you can find them.

The Romeos were not for me, pretty harsh and not enough flavor for my tastes.

Ill let yall know what I try next time I go somewhere where they sell good ones.

That website has a ton of info on there.

I smoke mostly pipes now. For a good & cheap cigar-I like Baccarat Rothchilds. They're typically around $4 each.

Macanudo's are what i smoke when I want a "nicer" cigar. I think they're $8-10.

I like my cigars about opposite of how I like my pipes...cigars-mild & slightly sweet, pipes-I prefer full blends.

If you have a local brick & mortar store, see if they sell samplers.

My local store is www.IwanRies.com I bought their smallest sampler and was very pleased. I think it's called "The Dog Walker".

all the best.

Mitch Hedberg fan!

My favorite is an Arturo Fuente Chateau and Double Chateau. The Double Chateaus are about 5.5" long and about a 48 ring gauge. They are a slow smoke so smoke them when you have some time to kick back and savor them.

I also have a couple of Fuente y Fuente Opus X cigars that are about 10 years old.
