Which class should I take?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm choosing my classes for my senior year of high school. I have been put into having to choose between two classes.
Anatomy H or
AP music Theory

I want to be in pharmaceuticals so I'm going to have to take anatomy sooner or later, but the Honors class won't count towards an college credit, but then again I don't really need a music theory class other than I'm interested in it. What should I DO???

You should get a feel for what the music theory class is like before you choose it, some of them are very difficult and some are very easy.

Since the course is AP music theory I assume its pretty difficult, the music theory class I took in high school was mind-numbingly easy for somebody who had already been playing music for a few years.

AP Music Theory can sometimes get you out of the fine arts core requirement in college. However, Anatomy will be far more useful.

yea but I will have to anatomy again in college. I think I'm going to go the AP music theory route.

Music theory. Life is to be lived. By the time you get to anatomy, if you have developed the study skills, then you will breeze it.

I took a couple AP classes in high school (including music theory), and if I could take it back, I would. I have always had a high GPA and have done really well in school, but I found the AP classes/tests brutally hard. They were much harder than the same classes in college. I don't know if it's because they're "trying to prepare you for the real world" or something, but those classes were ridiculous.

My vote would go to anatomy- not honors. Honors does nothing for you in the future, and you'll have to take like 3 more anatomy classes in college anyway.

One thing to keep in mind about AP Music Theory is you'll have to find a college that will accept the credit. A lot of colleges won't accept credits for the more obscure AP courses.

I would go for the music theory.

If you are going to be taking any music and/or theory in college, this would be excellent prep. Also take beginning piano lessons.
