According to the internets maturity is the state of being fully or developed. The theme of maturity if often found in literature. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird the author Harper Lee represents the theme of maturity when Jem interacts with Atticus, and when Atticus teaches Jem a lesson.
In To Kill a Mockingbird Jem's interactions with Atticus during the Tom Robinson case show how he is growing up. In chapter twenty two Bob Ewell spits in Atticus' face and threatens his life. Atticus had a less than angry response. Jem questioned Atticus' response the Bob's actions. "Jem, see if you can stand in Bob Ewell's shoes for a minute." He said "I destroyed his last shred of credibility at that trial, if he had any to begin with That6 man had to have some kind of comeback, his kind always dose. So if spitting in my face and threatening me saved Mayella Ewell one extra beating, that's something I'd gladly take. He had to take it out on somebody and I'd rather have it be me than that houseful of children out there. You understand?" (Lee 218) In this quote Atticus is teaching Jem a valuable life lesson that you have to look from the perspective of someone else before you act. Because of this interaction with a Atticus Jem will be able to think more rationally before acting later in life, possibly saving him or someone else from a lot of trouble.
Another example of Jem maturing is Atticus teaching Jem about courage. In chapter eleven Mrs. Dubose, a mean cynical lady who lives down the street from the Finch's makes a lude remark about Atticus. This throws Jem into a blind rage and he destroys her flowers. To make up for his actions he must read to her every day for a month. After that month ends she dies. Before her death she arranges for Jem to receive a box upon her demise. When he receives the box Jem if furious, destroying it in the fire. "She had her own views about things, a lot different from mine, maybe… son, I told you that if you hadn't lost you're your head I'd still have made you go read to her-I wanted you to see what real courage is, and instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it trough no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do. Mrs. Dubose won all ninety-eight pounds of her. According to her views, she died beholden to nothing and nobody. She was the bravest person I ever knew." In this quote Atticus is giving Jem a lesion about what courage really is. He is teaching Jem that being strong and powerful doesn't mean that you are courageous. Because of this lesion Jem can now better judge people by their actions and look past their faults to see who they really are.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird the author Harper Lee represents the theme of maturity when Jem interacts with Atticus, and when Atticus teaches Jem a lesson. The interactions between Atticus and Jem improve Jem's understanding of the world. If this world had more people like Atticus, this would be a better place to live.

If you wrote this, one thing I'd point out from skimming it very quickly is that you write in a very clipped fashion. |

You shouldn't use dose instead of does. They mean completely different things. |
