That would be absolutely bad ass.

Rooms would need shades though potentially.

thanks--and shading via overhanging balcony and electrochromic, triple-glazed glass for solar control

I think the Steps are the emergency way out/off. But man, I would stay in a hotel like that in an instant, assuming I had the cash to do so.

I think it's neat in concept, couldn't be nearly as elegant in execution, and is kind of as much of a travesty as the skywalk is. Leave the canyon alone.

I mean no offense, just my take.

no offense taken, but you might not fully understand the concept--it's a modular system designed to be erected with very minimal impact for only a short duration, then moved

i fully agree with you about permanent structures in areas such as this

+1 I like the concept too but I wouldn't want to see it there.

Edit: So temporary, that's more interesting, especially if you have to climb for the check-in : )

Nothings screams "minimal impact" like helicopters! It's a neat concept but I certainly hope to never see it "temporarily installed" on public lands!

haha, good point...that was an idea to make use of existing helicopter services (tour services) to minimize vehicle traffic of guests, but helicopters are definitely intrusive upon wildlife and introduce noise pollution

this was a short exercise to explore an idea, it's educational to hear some of these valid criticisms voiced, i appreciate the feedback

Have you calculated the stresses in those support tendons? Are they the only things holding the hotel in place? You got them running willy-nilly in every direction, many of which make no sense.

+1. That's what I meant by the "not so elegant in execution" part.

I'd stay there (granded it's proven to be completely safe ).

OP: Do you work in/study architecture or just do it as a pastime?

willy nilly isn't a good structural strategy?

they're actually all running in the same direction, but there are no struts shown to hold the stack of modules away from the rock face--the diagonal structural members along the face of the modules might give the chaotic appearance

...this is just a concept, so no structural calcs yet, but i think the reality could be almost as elegant, and probably more interesting than 100-kip test fishing line

I felt dizzy and puked into my mouth a little bit just from looking at it.

Despite my height phobia I think I'd like a day at the glass floored bottom floor to end my need for adrenaline for a lifetime...or just my lifetime.
