Closed Thread: Just a Question

Sign in to disble this ad
A fairly innocuous (or so I thought) thread I started became "closed" ... and I'm not sure why. I'm not upset about it or anything but I'd just like to know what the cause was and whether I, or any of those who replied to the thread, violated any forum rules? Or was there some other reason?

I would PM a moderator, but I don't know who closed the thread.

I would suggest sending a pm to all the moderators in the forum. Just cc them. Starting a thread about it will only get you another closed thread

Just to be clear, I'm not complaining here - I just don't know what happened! I'll try a PM I guess.

Was it the Canadian lament one? If so, parody-type threads are often closed. I don't think that there was anything offensive in yours at all, not in the least.
It's just that in the past the parodies kind of take on a life of their own with everyone throwing ever more outrageous ones out there. That makes for a lot of work for the mods so sometimes so they like to nip it in the bud. At least that's what my theory is. PM one of them, I'm sure they can tell you what happened and why.

That's correct - parody threads tend to snowball, giving mods even more to watch out for. You didn't violate any rule, but we discourage parody threads. Also, they're just not funny. Ever.
