We've had beer threads, whisky threads, wine threads - have we had a cocktail thread recently? What's your poison?
My own fave - a good ol' BLOODY MARY. Vodka, plenty of ice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, a pinch of celery salt, and tomato juice. Just sipping away now. This is seriously great stuff.
Post away if you're over 21. Me, I *just* about qualify.

I had a Rusty Nail not long ago, Scoth & Drambuie on the rocks. Horrible thing, that it and a $7 drink to boot! You'll bet I drank the whole thing anyways... well I did.
Relevant info: My fiancee and I had joined my parents on vacation, about 2 weekends ago. I was showing my fiancee around the place where my parents go 'camping' (read: park their 37 ft. RV with sewer, electricity, & satellite hookups). We passed the bar, and seeing that it was happy hour decided to get a few drinks. We amble up to some barstools and my girl makes a coughing gesture, then looks down. I look down and see a $100 bill under my stool. I promptly pick it up and pocket it. Looking around, I see no one who could possibly have just lost $100. As it was in plain sight for who knows how long before we arrived we kept it. Feeling quite joyous with our new found riches, I decide to order something different. Not knowing what a rusty nail was (I was surely mistaken as to what I thought it was) and having heard of one, I went ahead an ordered it. That was the first and last time I ordered a Rusty Nail. Saying "delish" is such a faux pas its probably the only instance in which I would deem said removal of thy mancard necessary. Take 'em away boys!

but mostly I prefer rum-based drinks. Specifically Rum and Coke, and specifically when made with 2 shots of bacardi 151 to each 12 ounces of cola.
Bloody Mary's are good too. Tabasco makes a good bloody mary mix, in medium and hot with horseradish.
another drink I like is Dr. Pepper mixed with Jager. The Dr. Pepper cuts the medicinal taste of the Jager.

Speaking of rum, I like rum and Red Stripe. Y'all never thought of that, huh?
Also whiskey and Sam Adams, or a porter of some sort

My drink of choice used to be a double scotch neat but that would end up costing me (both in dollars and in the consequences resulting from the lapses in judgement that alcohol tends to "help" with) and so I switched to Rusty Nails which I drink substantially slower.
Other cocktails that I like
Bourbon & coke
Martini (either vodka or gin but I prefer gin)
Negroni (this will put hair on your chest)
Old Fashioned
and occasionally a Sidecar
And I wouldn't exactly call it a cocktail, but I love a margarita on a hot summer night. |

That BM mix is just that,...BM. |
