So, what is the best coffee TB has ever had? I'm looking for a good new brew.

Brad Cook (DigMe) is really knowledgeable and "up" on coffee...

I love coffee too, but I use local roasters / and have mine ground right there, at a place 2 blocks form my house. I can ask if they ship, the stuff is to die for.

My personal favorite was Jamaican Blue Mountain for a plain old cup of black coffee. Tastes like what coffee smells like. However, it is difficult to find and expensive as hell, and the quality of beans has slipped ever since that hurricane hit them and wiped out the crop several years ago. Might have been Andrew, I don't remember which one it was.

Nowadays, I use Cafe Bustelo. It is an espresso roast made for the Latin American market. I brew mine strong, and add turbinado sugar, a la Cuban coffee. Wonderful with a cigar, as well.

The Sumatra Blue Lintong from San Juan Coffee Roasting Company would be the best I have had recently, maybe ever.

While Blue Mountain is excellent, it's a little light for my tastes. My personal favorite is Mayorga brand Kenya AA.

Kenya AA was my favorite for years. Peaberry and Maragope (sp?) are really good as well.

I pretty much play the field these days.

I have discovered that Goya Espresso is awesome stuff, and much more affordable than the boutique stuff.

Yeah, it's my personal favorite, and the best I've ever had thus far. Believe it or not, I was able to find some pure Blue Mountain at Costco, of all places. I snatched that up real quick.

I get a locally roasted Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. The roaster is Doma and they are located in post falls ID. I get it whole bean and grind it mere seconds before I brew it in a french press/bodum. I am a coffee snob. I live in a land of lattes, breves, espresso, etc, but I make my coffee at home or in a pinch I'll have my barista fiancee make me some from her work. They serve Doma as well.

I get gevalia coffee deliveries ... great coffee, a bit pricey since you have shipping charges (it pays to buy in bulk, for the same shipping costs), and they are 8oz each.

I usually keep their Costa Rica Peaberry and Kona in my pantry. They also carry Jamaican Blue ($25.95 per 8oz) and other select varieties. Another nice thing is their European Coffee house selections (roasted and blended like the coffee houses of their name)... my favorite of these is Le Precope (a Parisian coffee house).

You can even sign up for their seasonal flavored coffees and limited selections (that are available only once a year).

If you love good coffee, and don't mind paying the price for it ... Gevalia is a one stop shop.

BTW... I'm drinking some Peaberry right now.

How nice...a chance to quote R.A. Heinlein!

His protagonist in the excellent novel (not as good a movie) Glory Road, Oscar Gordon, opined that coffee comes in five descending stages:

Coffee
Java
Jamoke
Joe
Carbon Remover

Further deponent sayeth not.
