My neighbors where I am living now were having a "funeral" for their cat that died, out in their garden next door. I heard them outside drumming and being loud, so I came out and they informed me that they had had the cat for 19 years and it had a brother around somewhere.
There's been a nearly feral black cat hanging around and they said that was the brother.
The next day I seen the owner of the cat burying it on his own, and looking rather upset so I came out and talked to him, and picked some catnip growing nearby to bury with him. We then buried it and went parted ways.
Then tonight, I'm out smoking and there is his brother waiting for me on the porch like this was it's home. I expected it to run, as it always has whenever I've gotten close to it. Instead, it ran up to me and demanded attention and even cuddled my leg for a bit.
Do you think it knew I was there? o.O
(I'm sleepy and apologize for the long read, but I think it's pretty awesome.)

| | Guess what?! I got a fever! | | Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: San jose, Cal | | | So i have this story, my story has a cat in it too, when i was young i had a cat... She stayed at my grand parents place outside the city. Every time i went to visit my grand parents (which was several times a week.) i would call them and let them know i am getting on the train (Russian trains are amazing because you can keep the doors open and sit there with legs hanging out of the moving train and smoke and drink a beer.) Anyways, Cat got the timing down between me calling and me arriving and would always meet me up on the way from train station and follow me home. That cat was a dog.
We also had 20 more cats and 3-4 more dogs. Cool place to grow up.
Incredible.

| | | | Cats have an ancient history behind them as being regarded as spiritual animals. They held in high scared rankings of Ancient Egypt due to their supposed extrasensory senses. I personally think that this brother cat knows its sibling has passed on and possibly feels the energy of the passed cat in the air. I imagine it to be a comforting feeling to the cat... This may have humbled it into being more social with you.
I think you should feed this cat and create a bond with him. I believe cats have some awesome ways about them. You never know when you are going to have a bum day and low and behold this cat will appear and be able to comfort you.
