Cole Slaw recipes (non-mayo based)?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone have a solid recipe for cole slaw (the vinegar based kind). Looking on the net, the oil to vinegar ratio for the dressing is all over the place. Any proven suggetions?

Thanks,

RS

I'll see if I can remember this. It's a good one!

Take 4 packages of Ramen noodles. Break the noodles, and save the packets of flavoring (My Auntie M swore by Chicken flavor, I myself like the oriental.)

Add to the broken noodles:

1) 16 oz bag of slaw

8) Scallions minced

1/4 cup of toasted sesame seeds

1/2 cup of toasted slivered almonds

Mix 1) cup oil (I like Olive myself)
1) Cup Vinegar
1) Cup sugar
1) Table Spoon Soy Sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
and remaining flavor packets

Throw it all in a bowl, and let it sit overnight. In the refrigerator mind you!!

Awesome for family gatherings and potlucks!

The only coleslaw worth eating is made by Jamaicans. My god do they ever do it right.

Nope. That's why you have to let it sit overnight.

Probably not, its pretty bland

Anyways, onto a real point.

Does no one else feel that its best to just work things like this out yourself? That way you get it perfect for your own taste.

I prefer the mayo based ones myself. I eat a lot of it, probably eat it about 6 times a week. Although I am from a Polish background, so it makes sense that I like it.
