College is a bad place to meet girls? Discuss...

Sign in to disble this ad
My roommate and I had a discussion the other day about meeting girls in college. He insisted that high school was a far better environment to meet girls in, but that he was too shy in high school to talk to girls. He says that now that he's in college he regrets not being more assertive in high school, "because it's harder to meet girls in college".

I disagreed and said that it's actually easier to meet girls in college because of the independent living environment, parties, clubs/social activities, classes, and so forth.

Your thoughts?

I went to an all boys school so I find it much easier to meet girls at college.

Id say it was easier in school. Just seemed to know more girls in school.

Well, it was easier to get into a long term relationship in school, at college it is easier to cut to the good stuff

Easier to meet girls in high school, but easier to spend time with girls in college.

Definitely easier in college -- fewer clique issues to deal with.

Why burn out your life for the sake of some schoolgirl?

In the words of my dad's twice-divorced friend, "If I knew then what I know now ..." and then he just starts shaking his head.

I would say college is better, but I did meet my girlfriend in high school, so it's not all bad. I think high school is a little more dependent on your circumstances and who you hang out with. I was in the band (as was my girlfriend), and we were all close, plus the band folks tended to hang out with a lot of people from many different cliques, so I met people that way too.

Though meeting high school girls in the 70s was pretty easily done, the female to male ratio in the college I attended was 7 to one (school numbers, not mine). So I vote college.

^That's important too. I think UNCW has something like a 4 to 1 ratio, so it's easy to meet girls at my school too.

Way easier in college. They're away from home, drunk and horny

It's pretty close either way. I think it was easier for me to meet girls in high school. You're around hundreds of them daily and are in the same building for 7 hours.

it has been the opposite for me but i guess majoring in music education kinda puts you in a program with more women.

What am I saying? I'm majoring in mechanical engineering... Of course it was easier to meet more girls in high school! I haven't seen a single girl in one of my college classes.
