We moved my little girl into the University Of Alabama yesterday. Sure doesn't seem like she should be that old.

If it makes you feel any better, it's not easy on the kids either. When I moved to college for the first time (coming up on 7 years ago...wow), even though I was only about half an hour away from home, it was a bit upsetting. I had never lived away from home before, no matter the distance. Now I live 8 hours away from home...wish I were back only 30 minutes from my parents again.

Distance will make the heart fonder.

You should be proud of her achievements. You've clearly laid the groundwork for a solid and productive life ahead, good job!

It was rough on her as well. Fortunately, she lives in an honors dorm with a close friend and there are several classmates that live within walking distance. If not for that, we may have considered other options.

Sure sounds like a great choice of schools. It's a blessing in many ways.

Phones were old fashioned with wires/cords, or required a quarter during my college days in Mississippi. Mobile phones were for the very wealthy in those days...
