The Colony - TB Style?

Did anyone else watch this on Discovery? I thought it was a very interesting concept, though more than a bit unrealistic. My wife and I enjoyed it, though some of the obviously "acted" parts were subject to us giving them the MST3K treatment.

The concept was basically 10 survivors of a disaster trying to survive afterwards in a controlled experiment. Hrm.... wonder how the TalkBass crew would fare in that situation?

Did someone mention MST3k?! WHAT?! WHERE?!

Just kidding! I've seen a few episodes, it's an alright show. Members here could always fend off raiders by engaging in extended discussions about their preference to P basses or J basses. And boutique basses could be strong enough to be used as weapons.

Some of the pointy body style basses could work nicely, though my own 6 string would likely do quite a bit of damage with a headshot.

Somehow I think a large part of the food scavenging would involve hunting for bacon

The Double Bass and Bass Guitar forum members would definitely be divided into separate groups. It would be chaos if they had to work together.

There would definitely be a lot of awkward nighttime talk if I was grouped with the OT guys.

"How do I get a girlfriend?"
"What do you think about ear gauging?"
"Did you guys see Kanye West?"

We'd be in the warehouse. Those DBers wish that they were actual bassists, so they try to pillage our warehouse in hopes of being us.

Basically, I'd be the dude living in the loft with the asian chick laughing with the ladder pulled up. Everyone else can tinker with the shower, generator, and build weapons, and I'll come down once in awhile for a snack and drink and then return upstairs for my grilled cheese sandwich. But I wouldn't know, I've never seen the show.

Like in Vonnegut's 'Cat's Cradle' after the release of Ice-9?

It's been 23 years since I've read Cat's Cradle, and I'm a bit hazy on it, sorry.

Never seen the show, but I can say this - we might "survive" but we'd never propogate. I think the Smurfs had a better dude to chick ratio than TalkBass.

You, me, and a few others would survive. Everyone else would go "hey cool, snow! I'm gonna catch a snowflake on my tongue!" That or we'd tel them to go make sure it's real snow. That's where I got my username from too.
