JEPH LOEB SUCKS! i cannot imagine how this LOSER keeps putting out books. it's like everything he writes is the marvel version of archie and veronica.
GOD!
i've heard folks compare his writing to the random spewing of alphabits cereal by an upset-tummied pre-teen. i'm inclined agree.
/rant over.
(edit : forgot about some of his good books, so edited title to reflect that. heh )

Not much of a fan of his Marvel Work or what he has done with some of the characters (i.e Fallen Son the Death of Captian America)....but having worked in this industry (comics) i can tell you he writes what Marvel Tells him to write....
and Joss Whedon is an over-rated tool
so i think there are a few million people out there that have a different opinion.....

he has some decent stuff, yeah. he also has some awful disgusting tripe. red hulk? orly?
and did you really use teen wolf and teen wolf too as an example of his abilities?
well, at least we agree on whedon.

Teen Wolf was a cool movie for it's day and for what it was....um only money can explain the sequel
most of my favorite comic book writers are fairly obscure some are well known...
James Hudnall
Frank Miller
Alan Moore
Dennis O'Neil
Neil Gaiman
Grant Morrison
Archie Goodwin
Kurt Busiek
Dave Sim
Roy Thomas
Len Wein
as i said to each his own
but also like i said he writes what Marvel Tells him to write....I used to work For Rebel, Malibu, Cross-Gen and Verotik Comics and trust me we wanted to go all kinds of places with characters and the editors would never let us do what we wanted 8 times out of ten....
i stopped reading and collection a few years ago (as i think it's all crap these days) although i still follow a few indie's

just got done reading ultimates 3 - who killed the scarlet witch. it's awful - the ultimate universe is supposed to be geared toward younger folks, but still intelligently written, and most of it is. bendis does a fantastic job with ultimate spider man, for instance - i love that series - but loeb's ultimates are awful - like lame mtv versions of the heroes.
he's always gotta include cheesy sexual undercurrents and i think it's lame. and his dialog...oh man.
and red hulk? sheesh. marvel had just gotten done with the best hulk story arc ever, planet hulk/worldwar hulk, setting up hulk as being the strongest there is and then some in the framework of a fantastic story, on par with the best classic fantasy conan-style epics ever, and they also just scored an awesome coup getting jms to reboot thor, and what do they do? pull loeb's cheeseball red hulk out of the freakin discard pile and have him scramble the whole deal. weak.
but yeah, loeb's done some decent stuff i guess. hush was alright. i guess.
and shoot, even whedon gets a hit once in a while too - he did cowrite pixar's toy story. still. i hate crap that talks down to an audience, or pulls comicbook deaths, retcons and deus-ex's out of a never-emptying bag. it's insulting.

and, like i said, was trying to stir up some comicbook guy-like discussions. you know, "my slide rule can beat up your slide rule, using the super-power rules of dc's earth 2 universe" type geekfest.

I lost a lot of wind for Marvel when they Revealed that Spiderman wasn't Peter Parker but a clone...and his parents were still alive......
and Don't even get me Started on what DC has done to the Batman and Superman over the years....

planet hulk/worldwar hulk - greg pak pwnz. i've never been much of a hulk fan but this story line is really fantastic
ultimate spiderman - bendis is an awesome writer, this is by far the best imprint of the ultimate series.
j michael straczynski (of babylon 5 fame) did an amazing job on spider man, and he's kicking butt on the current thor reboot.
alex ross's "justice" is really great, of course, with his art it's a hit every time.
the two volume ultimate ironman is pretty good - orson scott card is writing it.
