Looking for opinions and/or advice.
Do you leave your PC on all the time or do you turn it off when you are done a session?
Which do you think is better/safer and why?

Mine is on all the time. Turning it off and on re-sets it so it's a good thing. I run mine until it's overloaded with stuff (days or weeks), runs suuuuper slow, then I restart it.

My goes into sleep mode. One great thing about Win7 was how fast it wakes and loads from sleep mode. I stopped leaving it on all the time when Win7 came along.

My computer is kind of a power beast. So, for green purposes, I don't leave it on when I'm not using it. My new sound setup in this room may require me to eventually, as I think it may be a part of my total bass rig. I imagine I will bypass it often but it still may lead to it being on more often. That's fine, its almost winter and I don't use heat

On a side note, you need to restart it every few days. Just like a smartphone (especially an android). The thing just fills up with random clutter, a nice reboot will clean it up slicker than ....

I used to leave it on all day long but now with SSDs, it takes about 10 seconds to start or turn off the computer. Therefore I have no reason to leave it on.

I turn it off when I'm not using it. Would cost a small fortune in electricity otherwise! (well, it already does . . .)

Any advantages to Win 7's sleep mode over hibernation? (what I've been using lately with my brand new laptop)

My computer goes on first thing in the morning when I get up, and I shut it off when I go to bed at night. I also shut it off when I'm away for a long time, like when I'm at work. No point in using up components if I'm not there!

My work computer usually stays on for the week (it's a recent Macbook Pro 13"), mainly because I like to leave a task ready to be worked on for the next morning. I shut it down at least once a week.

I have a leisure (gaming) computer that I power up only when I want to use it.

I don't have an SSD yet, so I won't comment on that, but I let mine go into sleep mode, since it takes 15 seconds or so to boot back up again.

I leave my iMac, iPad and iPhone on all the time. I shut down for vacations and stuff and when I remember or when things seem weird I'll restart.

I turn my PC off when I got to bed at night and then turn it back on when I get up. During the day when I'm not using it, I have it configured to go on stand-by 3 minutes after no usage. I also turn the monitor off completely when I'm not using it.....no standby.

I turn my iMac off when I go to bed. I meditate in the morning and don't want any electronics or digital stuff on.
I turn it back on in the morning when I'm done -- usually after the morning practice session, unless searching for music.

If you want to save power turn it of and make sure it isn't plugged in, if you don't care about the power consumption leave it on.
