Whenever I try and open a certain program a message pops up saying msvcr71.dll is missing. How do I fix this?

All computer problems are to be solved with the purchase of a new computer.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete

If that doesn't solve your problem try reformatting your hard drive.

Microsoft Visual C runtime files. I think you can download the package from Microsoft. If not, contact the author of the software. Sometimes software authors are unaware that certain support files are missing on their user's computers.

Yup.

Solved: Windows Problem... missing MSVCR71.DLL

--------

@OP. If you're not already doing so you may wish to use Firefox running these security-related Add-ons...

- Ghostery
- Adblock Plus
- NoScript
- Beef Taco
- Flagfox
- WOT
EDIT:
- BetterPrivacy "Super-Cookie Safeguard"

(And optionally, this time saving bookmark and password synchronizer:
- Xmarks)

...to thwart a growing cross-platform redirect problem which affects a number of different browsers.

This thread and its links discusses the issue in currently known detail.

EDIT: Please download Firefox and its Add-ons only from Mozilla. Once one has Firefox and the Add-on WOT (Web Of Trust) running, one can see that there are attack sites which use offerings of legitimate software to lure in computer users.

i think it's www.dell-files.com, that has pretty much every .dll file in existance to download. it's generally the top hit when you search for a dll file. go there. download, follow instructions, problemo fixed. just read what your clicking, the advertise/"advise" lot of registry checkers, make sure the link you are clicking is for the download. t's in a box.

also, worthy of note is the program CCleaner ("Crap Cleaner"). it's great for general cleaning your computer, and helping find/fix small registry errors. 100% legitimate and free. the company that makes it also makes a couple of other good (free) programs, as well
