Computer Problems! Anybody know Dells good?

Sign in to disble this ad
My Dell computer decided to commit suicide and is now on life support. It is stuck on the Windows XP loading screen on startup and will not load from there. It is not hooked up to the internet and all I really use it for is to charge my Liepod and play music so I think that rules out viruses.. Any suggestions?

Run the Dell diagnostic utility built in to those machines, you should have an option at boot up. Maybe F5?

It can be a simple driver issue not allowing the machine to boot but it could also be the hard drive timing out from failure and bad sectors.

did you try starting up in safe mode and do a system restore?

press F8 (i think) during the boot up to get into safe mode.

As GermanDude pointed out, spam F8 during the Dell POST screen then select "Last known good configuration".

Do this, I did when I had a problem quite like yours, op. It worked like a charm.
