Computer Virus. Need Help Now!

OK short and sweet.

My hotmail account got taken over by a virus and the hackers. They have everything, my address, phone number, name, my parents name, and my computer is totally *%(#$. I am reformatting the drive with the XP installation disc and will replace that with a backup I have on a spare drive so that is not the problem.

The thing that I desperately need your help with is, is there ANY way I can get that hotmail account shut down. I can't remember what all information is in there and I need it shut down as soon as possible. I can't get back in as they changed the password and the alternate email address.

I already emailed everyone I could from my other computer and email address but not all of them got it. Please help.

Help!

****, if it was me I'd be calling Microsoft or a Hotmail helpline ASAP. Tell them your info, and they should be able to get your stuff shut down.

Well if I had $1200 on me I would. But right now I don't and my big concern is getting this thing shut down. Well I got relegated to email so I'll have to wait and fret. If you are of the Christian persuasion please pray that this will be dealt with quickly and that these guys will leave me alone.

Man this weekend has sucked. Things literally blow up in my face and then this...

Well I'm still alive, have money, and a future. Praise God.

I already went and changed all my passwords to my bank accounts and other pertinent data so that they can't access that.

Well the thing is It's not in the profile but in the emails. So I can't remember what all info was in them. I feel so ashamed about all this. The virus directed me to porn sites then I got a call (probably taken from my email) on my cell and they said they were with Cyber Justice and that I was caught looking at kiddie porn. You know like "To Catch A predator" then they delete a few files on my comp and boom it's down and they are laughing.

So I am praying that they will just laugh get caught and leave me alone. I am really worried right now.

That really sucks man- I feel your pain. But I must say, I just burst out laughing at the kiddie porn part. Do you think you got the virus itself from porn, or what?

Naw man, I clicked on a link, (I know I know, big DUH!!! moment right there) and then the browser window shrunk and started dancing around while fat old gay men, did what fat old gay men do... and other assorted nasty web sites and then a few minutes later I got a phone call on my cell with them saying that they were with Cyber Justice who work with the "To Catch a Predator" tv program and that I was going to jail for soliciting under age minors. I wasn't sure what to think until they started telling me where I lived, who I was, who my parents are, what my number was. That's when I started getting scared. Then they were laughing at me saying I was owned and then my computer rebooted and a necessary file had been deleted. Thats the gist of it as I am still a little scatter brained and worried that they will not leave me alone. I hope they got their kicks and move on.

I am still waiting for hotmail to get back to me about shutting down the account. So far everything is going back to normal.

As for my laptop, Praise God that he has me do backups on a spare hard drive for the lappy. We use the Acronis backup system. Did a complete clone of the hard drive about 3 months back so that is being put back on the laptop, so all I have to do is update...everything.

As for the virus...don't ask me, I'm just the guy who got nailed by these guys.

This doesn't completely add up. They were laughing at you? And saying you were "owned"? Adults don't use that word. Are you sure it's not someone trying to pull a prank? And you said you just looked at a website, how does that translate to accusations of live chat with minors? And how would "Cyber Justice" (which isn't even the right name for the group on TV) have your cell phone # unless you gave it to someone?

This all sounds like the kind of thing that guys from my old school would do, i.e. call someone they know and pretend to be a police officer or similar.
