For those who haven't heard, Conan will be joining TBS in November of this year, with a show at 11:00 PM. Lopez Tonight, the show currently in that spot, will move to midnight.
Apparently George Lopez called Conan himself to ask that he consider joining TBS, and has claimed he's excited to have Conan as his lead-in.
Thoughts??

Now I don't mind a few joles of any about any race, culture, religion, etc. But when its your whole show, it gets old quick. While Conan can be funny at times and is surely better than the other 2, I'll stick with my Chelsea Lately.

i saw most of an episode of the lopez show (i want to say it was the first one... had cheech and chong), and it had its moments. i wont judge a show like that on the first 2-3 weeks of programming, as the crew really needs to click, but as long as he does a hell of a lot less race based stuff, lopez could have his own show for a while. (i can see george and his writers going for the played out latino jokes at the beginning, because its easy, and im sure some of its recycled or remolded stand up material, but what i watched went between funny and just stupid).
however, if its not on hulu the chances of me seeing it are very close to zero. even if im awake and in front of the tv, stewart/colbert own that time slot for me (especially since those shows have ditched hulu, and the convenience of everything in one place is priceless).
i am pleased to hear that conans coming back. he and his staff must be really motivated if theyve made a deal and have a rough starting date already. i think i wouldve taken a longer vacation with that 43mil payday, but im sure glad he/they didnt. |

Carlos Mencia, while a funny guy, got stale for me after the 20,000th joke about being Mexican. I remember how awesome Jeff Foxworthy was when he first came out, but his schtick about being a redneck also got old for me too.
Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock, and Eddie Murphy can all make jokes, and funny jokes at that, about being Black, but they also have a huge repertoire of stuff that has nothing to do with their race. Lewis Black can poke ironic fun at his Jewish heritage, but he also can talk about a myriad of stuff from politics to pop culture. Quote: |

| Are you sure? Here's Daily show with last night's episode: http://www.hulu.com/search?query=The...n+Stewart&st=0
And here's Colbert Report: http://www.hulu.com/search?query=the...rt+report&st=0
I've been getting by Stewart and Colbert fix off of Hulu since I don't have cable.
As far as Conan, I thought that TBS was an odd choice, but I hope he succeeds. I've been a fan for years. He has so much chemistry with his guests that he can make an interview with the normally most boring celebrity interesting.

I personally would have loved for Conan to go to Comedy Central, but they already have two late night hosts and great programming.
I think this will give Conan a great opportunity to do his show the way he wants.
Also, I think he will catch CBS's eye whenever Letterman retires.
Perhaps then, a few years down the road, he could go head-to-head with Leno.
THAT would be something worth watching. |

The thing is I don't have cable either, so I'm going to have to either get cable or find some way to watch his show on the internet. I was hoping he'd go to Fox for that reason, but nonetheless I'm glad he's going somewhere. I'm glad they didn't put him after Lopez's show. I liked his sitcom, but I watched his show and it's rarely any good. and as others said, the Mexican jokes are too much and they aren't really all that funny...

The network guys have a huge edge in that they have local news leading into their shows. I'm personally not a big fan, I don't get his sticht, but then I'm old so I have an excuse. I've never found anything he's done seriously funny. Leno has his moments, and now he has a bass player (Ricky Minor) leading the band, Letterman has become an arrogant @$^ and let his success get to his head. But none of them are "great" at it.

I don't have cable or satellite TV, so until I do I'll still tune in to Letterman. Coco at least pried me away to watch the Tonight Show a number of times during his short reign. |

While I understand why some people wouldn't find conan funny, because some to his humour is stupid, I also cannot fathom why people like The Office. THAT is stupid humour.
