Conan's New Band (and Show)

Sign in to disble this ad
Conan is debuting his new show on TBS network on Nov. 8. The band: “Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band.”

"Here’s the rest of Vivino’s Basic Cable Band: Scott Healy (keyboards); Mike Merritt (bass); Mark Pender (trumpet); Richie “LaBamba” Rosenberg (trombone); Jerry Vivino (saxophone, woodwinds and vocals); and James Wormworth (drums)."

Mike was in Conan's last band, and Max Weinberg did not follow Conan to L.A.

I wonder if that has to do with making it easier to work with Bruce due to proximity. I assume that, being from Jersey, Bruce is based on the East Coast.

Goodbye and good riddance Max, seriously the worst thing about his old band. IMHO of course.
Wish the new show was on free TV though, oh well I guess that's what the web is for these days.

Max did follow him to LA, he just did a big tour with Bruce for a while in there, so he wasn't around as much. I believe he took another gig when Conan got canned. I will miss Max, he is one of my favorite drummers and always had a big personality. I really hope that Andy is gone, I can't stand that guy.

I'm sad to see Max go, but LaBamba is still there so we're good.

That's entirely the same band as the Tonight Show and Late Show, except for Max. Max did go to L.A. and the Tonight Show, but not this new show on TBS.

Andy Richter is still around, too.

- Max has made it clear he's done with Conan, and is having fun with his Big Band.

- Conan would be much better if he were funny.

- I miss the Jukes...

Max had open heart surgery about two weeks after the last Conan show went off the air. Here's a link about his surgery.

Useless, semi-on-topic fact: A friend of mine is on the audio crew for the Conan show. She quit her Dancing With The Stars gig to be back with Conan.

That would be one of my dream gigs.
