Funny, I was just talking about the old style ones today, the kinda crudely printed black ink over tie-die cardstock ones, I have a ton of them, love 'em, want more. I just think they are great.

Dunno where to collect them besides the bay and private collections, but I have gotten cool ones at the *funky* tents at state fairs.

You could try ebay of course.
Fake ones are only a concern if the seller claims they are original first prints.
There are some posters out there worth some serious cash, but of course they are rare.

I have an original print of a Sonic Youth concert poster from a gig in San Fran in -03. I wasnt at the show, nor am I a collector of concert posters, but I happened to be passing the shop, had the extra $25, and really like the poster.

This is the one, its hanging in the stairwell of my condo:

I've got a couple- the only one I consider of any importance is my Kraftwerk 'The Mix' July-Sept tour poster.

That rocks. The colors are amazing. I wouldn't mind having it.

I have a friend who worked for Shure electronics and set up the mikes for concerts at the Fillmore West in the late 60's. His collection of concert posters and handbills blows my mind...and he has a box full of them. Bands like The Doors, Joplin, Steppenwolf, etc....!

He won't starve in retirement - just will need to sell a few posters from time to time.

I bought it for the same reasons. I was really into Sonic Youth at the time (still am, but not as fanatical as I was then) and saw it in the shop. It caught my eye, and I had the cash. Not sure if they have more available, did you try the website on the photo?
