I don't know if any of you saw this, but Antonio Cromartie was naming his kids on Hard Knocks, and I was struck by how many he had, 8, and that many were the same age. I debated posting this because it feeds a stereotype, but I thought why cover for a bonehead (bonerhead?)

I hate to say it, but we all know he will be flat broke as soon as he retires from the NFL.

it is when people are deadbeats that pisses me off. but yeah the dude should invest in condom company or something.

What a moron. Nothing wrong with having 8 kids so long as you can be a father and a dad to them and not just a sperm donor.
And the women.. what the heck are THEY thinking? It takes two to tango, no?

This makes for "great entertainment" in the media but it's the kids who grow up deeply missing for a real dad that suffer for this crap.
The only plus would be if some guy, obviously a better man (men) than this knucklehead, were to step in and raise some of these kids as their own.

I'm not condoning their activities, but I wonder if women hunt these guys out to attempt a payday via whatever multi millionaires pay in child support.

Also, you take a kid from a lower-class upbringing, put him through college, tell him he's the best thing ever, draft him into a professional sports league, give him millions of dollars, tell him he's the best thing ever, and then expect him not to take the money and fame and use them like he stole it? Yeah right. The same thing is happening all across this country in low class neighborhoods, but no one cares because they're poor. At least these guys have the means to make their kids' lives alright.

I'm not surprised at all, I just feel bad for all involved. The kids won't have real Dad. Cromartie will likely end up broke and in and out of jail for nonsupport unless he hooks up some good post football connections, and the women who think they have a gravy train are going to get a rude awakening when the money stops.

I guess I just see this as a middle aged man who knows how dumb choices in youth can haunt you as life goes on.

This is going to sound cold and shallow. I honestly could care less who pays or doesn't pay their child support. It doesn't effect the way I live my life and honestly, it's not my problem. I also have my own woes (like we all do) to focus rather than wasting my energy being pissed off about someone who doesn't pay their child support.

I have a "real" dad and I can tell you this, having one is sometimes overrated and more detrimental than not having one at all.

Except that when children are raised by a single parent their chances of being supported by the taxpayers is many times greater, as is their chances of engaging in criminal activities and ending up in prison.

Oh, I know. I don't want to portray my pop as a complete POS because that would be an overstatement. He provided for the family as best he could was there for us when we truly needed.

He was and is not an easy man to talk to, he's very opinionated, very bitter/grumpy, lacks ambition, and as a kid I didn't realize it but he's also a chauvinistic and prejudice individual who refuses to see the ere of his ways and seem to care what his family thinks of him. So this is why I say you can have a real dad and it still have a negative impact on your life.
