It's 3:48am EST and I'm sitting here on TB. I should be sleeping or at least doing something productive like homework. But nope, I feel an unexplainable dire need to hand out my opinions on things I am at least half-way knowledgeable about. And most of the time I will spend a good 5-10 mins going over every detail in the post to make sure it sounds right, editing, re-editing, and ultimately once I realize how dumb and idiotic I really do sound, just delete the post all together. There goes 10 mins of my life that I will never get back.

I obsessively peruse the classifieds - and not just here but on craigslist and the backpage and HC as well. Sometimes venturing over to the dudepit or bassgear.com. I dunno why...nothing has changed in the 48 nanoseconds since I saw them last. Am I alone?

No. You're not alone.

But, I rarely delete my posts after I write them.

Especially window shopping for new gear.

i look obsessively at gear over and over again, wonder what its like, mainly stuff i can't try and that i can't afford. i always wonder whether this boutique cab would be better than that boutique cab and want vintage basses even thought they are damn expensive and i gig out lots with a japanese fender jazz that sounds great anyway...
what i really should be doing is some damn practise...

and most of the time i click to make a new post but close it before i've even written anything...

I recommend aiming for dumb and idiotic. That way if you fail, you don't seem like a failure and if you succeed, you can say that was your intent.

I avoid the classifieds altogether. I have enough trouble reading the amps forum without wanting to buy everything...of course now I'm really wanting to get my hand on the Hartke Hydrive gear to try it out.

Le sigh.

Haha, I literally laughed out loud a couple times with that first post. I FEEL your pain! Also, this is spot on for me as well. I don't even LIKE vintage stuff I've played, but TB is telling me I NEED to like a 76 P-bass, therefore I lust over them. :/

I agree wit you. I used to do it often, but now, I'm a broke college student, and avoid the classifieds for that reason.

I do the same thing sometimes - then other times I let it fly no matter how dumb or idiotic it sounds. More often or not in OT or Misc since I don't know that much about basses.

I don't want to sidetrack this thread - and I am trying (unsuccessfully) to move on after the Pats loss. But - I would have loved to have read your take on the SB since you played the game at the Division 1 level.

Is that directed to me?

I hated the Super Bowl - boring game and I didn't like either team. Just goes to show that offense wins games, defense wins championships. The whole season though was a real downer for me (Bengals fan). This was supposed to be THE year for 'em to really break out of their shell but we all know how that turned out.

No, I was living the dream BEFORE talkbass. Now I sit on a computer all night long instead of testing the springs on my mattress

Somewhere, someplace, someone is selling a Rickenbacker for 100$ because they don't know what it is. I intend to find it before you do. Consider yourself out-obsessed.

LOL too bad the guy selling it doesn't check his email but once a month and typed in his phone number wrong.

I am sitting in bed with a laptop surfing TB because morning tv sucks and my girlfriend doesn't finish her lectures until 11.

Yes.

I used it more as an example of where someone may have special insight due to past or current experience. For me, if there were any threads on affordable housing policy, I would share my thoughts accumulated over 20 years in that world. Unfortunately (or fortunately ), the only thing that came close was the some posts that referenced the subprime mortgage mess.
