I played in college and if anyone would have shown up looking like that my coach would have sent them home. What ever happened to taking pride in the uniform? Edison Volquez is another that really upsets me. Even in basketball players are required to wear suits while traveling and after games.
Either way 500 homeruns with no roids is still remarkable, and his carefree attitude is always entertaining. I am, however, in no way a fan of the Boston Red Sox. They are the new Yankees, that is the "super bandwagon" team of the moment.

I call BS on that. Fair weather fans aside. I don't see the comparison. |

This is just one example, but I went to opening day in Oakland and there was literally a 50/50 split of Oakland and Boston fans. There is no way that 25,000 people from Boston just happened to come to that game... I am sure that people are going to jump on the Philly bandwagon soon, and it will anger me too. Just remember, people do not like rooting for losing teams that is why bandwagons exist. I live in the middle of nowhere and all the people that used to claim that they were yankees fans are now rocking BoSox hats. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with the Red Sox, I just don't like when a team gets good and people claim that they have been fans "for years." The Patriots have the same stigma as do the Colts and the Lakers, and you have to think that the NY Giants and Celtics are going to fall under the same category.

but when the NY Yankees were poop-hot, I wasn't a fan...and beyond popularity, I can't draw any other parallels between the teams, other than the caveman whoring out for the paycheck. They can have him, weak arm and all.
Mon- BoSox fan since I was 10 and went to my first game...that's around 1980.

Congrats Manny!
BTW: I could care less how Manny wears his cap or his hair. He's a great hitter and a great player, and I'm damn glad he's a member of the Red Sox!

I think that your issue with the Yankees is much like my issue with the BoSox. Except, the real reason you do not like the Yankees is because they play in the same division as your team, and for a very long time were much, much better than them. That is totally understandable, I hate the Braves for the same reasons. You see, we all need enemies, we need someone to root against just as much as someone to root for. I am not necessarily a Yanks fan, but I like certain players on the roster and don't like certain players on the team. Same can be said for the Sox, I love Jason Varitek, and probably would like Youk if he shaved his ridiculous goatee (attempting some humor). I don't really hate any team, except the Braves, I just choose who's roster I like more and root for them (Arizona Diamondbacks are a good example).
I guess we are arguing the same thing, in a different way. My original point was that, love him or hate him, Manny's uniform is ridiculous.
