Connecticut shooting in an elementary school this morning

This is awful. CNN is reporting close to 20 children have been killed along with several adults. Naturally, the piece of garbage shooter took his own life in a last act of cowardice.

So incredibly sad.

Can't really describe what I want to say about the gunman and his actions, so I'll leave at horrific.

I hope the injured pull through ok, even the survivors will undoubtly be messed up by this

Seriously, what kind of person shoots kids? I have three grandkids aged 2 to 7 and this news is tearing me apart. I can't even imagine burying a child or grandchild after this and so close to Christmas besides.

I can't imagine how gut-wrenching and emotionally devastating it must be to get your child dressed for school on a routine day, give them a smooch and send them off only never to see them alive again.
I've literally got tears in my eyes thinking about this.
I cant even begin to think about how sorry I am for those families...

I work in elementary schools. I have a 6 year old in elementary school. This is not an easy story to see. You are not safe ANYWHERE any more. I could easily be one of the dead adults, my child could be one of the dead children.

There's not much I can say without being banned so I guess I'll just conclude by saying we have some serious issues in this country (leading the world in school shootings) and my heart truly goes out to those who lost someone in this incident - especially a child. If you are a parent of an elementary school child, you got a real sick feeling in your gut when you heard this news.

Reports in that the shooter's mother was found dead in a nearby home and that she used to work for the school.
