Controversial Air Force casket photo prompts investigation | The Sideshow - Yahoo! News

Are they making light of their own fellow soldiers that have been killed in combat? If so than disgusting. also, to have those many agree to pose for the pic with that stupid pose and the guy in the casket is also disgusting.

Noose around neck and chains around body? Curious if they were referencing Saddam Hussein, whose statue was taken down via chains and whose body was hung. Either way, still a stupid photo to take.

We don't know the context - who knows, it could have been something as simple as taunting a softball team they just defeated - but still, that photo seems to be in extremely poor taste. Military personnel are supposed to be professionals and representatives of the country. Is that a gang sign with the crossed arms? How about a salute instead?

They need to lose their jobs for this. Absolutely an insult to everything the Air Force teaches. Losing stripes is not enough. Just disgusting.

I'd like to know the motivation for the photo. Not that it would make it OK, more of wanting to know what the thunder they were thinking.

I like morbid humor but the caption is kind of tacky. Otherwise I don't see what the problem is.

Agreed. I try to not pass judgement until I hear both sides of a story.

This is just wrong on so many levels.

I agree with Pacman...these individuals should be quietly discharged from military service.

Moral of the story: don't test the Air Force's gangster. They'll string you up and take a photo with you.

What, exactly, is causing these posts? It has been stated before, but we don't know the context of this photo or the reason it was taken. There is no disrespect immeadiately apparent in anything in that photo, all we have is the suggestion of one quote in the article that this image and its caption are aimed at fallen soldiers or combatants, but the person making that quote doesn't even explain why they see it as such or why it is being cosidered such.

You've just witnessed a case of successful, sensational journalism that is meant to rile up emotions despite there being no real backing or understanding of the material. Stuff like this sells like hotcakes, gets views, gets comments, and ultimately gets the publicist more money.

I spent 24 years in the military, the last 10 in the Air Force. Our Core Values are integrity, service before self and excellence in all we do. This photo is a disgusting display that portrays exactly zero of these core values. At worst, it's a hideous disrespect to the men and women who died in service to their country. At best, it paints a negative picture of men and women in uniform. The military has enough problems with public perception - this just aggravates that problem.

That, my friend, is where my post came from.
