Converting .SHN files to something that will play on my Ipod

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm re-downloading two shows from the internet archive (Umphrey's McGee 1/10/2004 and 1/30/2004 both soundboards for those interested) that I had on my old computer and had also converted to .wav files to include on Minidisc when I still had one.

The computer is gone along with it the old files and somewhere along the line the minidiscs got corrupted. Either way I loved both these shows and intend to listen to them on my Ipod. Before I go about downloading a bunch of stuff I wanted to check in and ask.

What file should I convert the .SHN files to so that I can listen to them on my iPod?

What is a good program for doing the conversion?

On my previous computer I used mkwact and converted them to .wav files,...then used the sony software to upload them to minidisc (which is AAC I believe).

I forgot to mention,,...I'm on windows 7 which I think is what I'm concerned about,...seeing as it mkw is such an old tool. I think I'm going to go for it and DL the mkw tool and see where that goes.

db poweramp is the easiest converter to use, and it'll handle SHN just fine.

I got mkwact to work,...and just converted to wav files,...I'm going through and renaming all the tracks and creating albums to put onto the ipod,...so I'll report back on that. Either way Itunes is playing the tracks,...which I'm grateful to be hearing these shows again.

This is what I use. You just may need to download the codec after you install the app.
