Not me, but I have set things on my dash and cranked the defroster.

Look up the book Manifold Destiny. It's all about coking on a car's manifold.

I don't think he wants to do anything illegal though.

Yeah, some friends and I tried cooking hot dogs on the engines of two of their cars before a concert once. It took a long time and we got tired of waiting so we just ate them half cold. We really didn't know what we were doing though.

Hi.

Yep, a few times with cars, a few times with my flat twin bike.

Tasty and an intelligent use of waste heat.

Hot dogs are the perfect manifold food.

I've done it a couple times on the interstate, in between rest stops.

It was some time ago, but I remember watching somebody on TV cook a whole meal with their engine. Maybe you can find it on youtube. They placed certain foods on different parts of the engine because of the temperature differences and then went for a drive. I thought it was pretty cool, but never tried it.

Sure have. What I did was more reheating than cooking but the technique applies. Turns out folks have been doing this since there were IC engines and long clear roadways. i've seen articles on homemade exhaust ovens that folks fitted to their model A's way back. I belive there's more than a few books written on the subject too.

Cans if Dinty Moore and cornbread wrapped up in tin foil

Just remember to poke a hole in the top of the can before you heat it

I don't know for the US, but our Army's Jeeps come with a very complete instruction booklet. It informs you on how to cook on the engine and hide the vehicle in a tree, among others.

OK, first page I opened to:

It says:

Do not use HAND THROTTLE lever while driving vehicle. The HAND THROTTLE lever is not to be used as a cruise control. Failure to comply may result in serious injury or death to personnel or damage equipment.

So, as long as we have to say kind of stuff to our troops, I think additional ways to cook food on the engine is a few years away.

Despite looking and smelling like wet dog food Dinty Moore is one of the best foods ever.

Haha okay, I get it

But if you have a few minutes, do search for the instructions on how to use the rear axle as a winch to lift the jeep in the air. It's amazing what these things can do.

I forgot to mention...I did see a thing on TV where a guy made a baked potato by wrapping it in foil and setting it on his engine block while he was driving...think it took him like 2 hours though. I guess it comes back to that Mitch Hedberg joke.

My eyesight must be going bad. That photo's all blurry.

On a recent "Top Gear" show, two of the three guys (the main host and one of his sidekicks) scraped cheese onto the engine of the other sidekick's project Alfa Romeo as a prank. It apparently did not smell too good.
