It's been admitted as a fake but Mythbusters decided it was Plausible after they did their exploration of the math and a smaller scale slide and landing zone.

Oh yes...very fake....what would make anyone see that as real?

We do make those slides though here, with a small ramp over a lake...and according to the amount of soapy water, sometimes fat guy's don't quite make it to the ramp.

Ours are yellow Mine Vent Tubing as well....lot's of guys here steal it from "Mama" Vale/INCO

The size of their landing zone makes it entirely implausibe if you ask me.

Perhaps if you could do a mess of "dry" runs with humanoids you might like to risk your life on the real deal but you'd have to do you very best humanoid impersonation to exit the ramp at the same speed as the dummy. Get it wrong and you'd miss by plenty.

Last year there was a giant waterslide much bigger than that downtown here for free. The line was so long the average wait was more than 5 hours. Needless to say, I didn't care to go...

I love that vid. I fell for it at first ... thought it was real. Then I thought, nah, the landing would probably kill you. But if you could set up something like this that would launch you out into a lake, that would be cool.

I'd like to see the pile of twisted bodies who tested this before they found just the right placement.
Or maybe they just used math to calculate mass x weight x distance x velocity x air density x speed / chicken nuggets.

nah it's fake

I loved it the first few times I watched it, very well done. I believe it was a little thing put together by microsoft as I remember though.

Because it's very possible to do that? Hard that is,but not impossible.

You would need a pretty wicked acceleration source.

I'd say that getting that much acceleration travelling on a soapy wet tube on an incline, makes it pretty impossible...

My guess would be, on the real footage, the rider does not even make it to the top of the ramp, let alone fly off it through the air.

The slide and landing zone was scaled as best possible from the video for the mythbusters. They hit the target too, only theirs was in a lake.
