I have some files I need to upload to get a circuit board made. They need to be archived into a Zip or Tarballs archive, and this archive needs to have the individuals files in its root, rather than in a folder. For some reason, Mac OSX is incapable of doing this; it automatically zips into a folder. I can't find any program for Mac capable of this.
I'm just looking to send these files to someone, and have them zip them into either a .zip, .tar.gz, or .tgz file. The files are all either .txt or .gbr (Gerber) file format.
It would really help me out of a jam! |

I've spent the last hour and a half decoding your message, learning to work Terminal, to find that it just outputs a file that opens as a folder (exactly the same as if I just used Finder's built-in archive tool).
This is not your fault, and again, I appreciate you trying to help, but it's not working for me. Anyone willing to take my files and zip them? It should only take a couple seconds. |

Windows does this nowadays. Is there a way you can look at the properties of the file?
If your circuit board service is similar to the one that I use ( www.barebonespcb.com), when you upload the file, it will tell you what it thinks is in there before proceeding with your order. |

Their website won't accept the tar file that Terminal spit out when I ran the command that karrot-x posted. It also won't accept the file that Finder generates when I archive the files. |

I like it, seems able to do everything I need, but I'm only using it for 2-layer effects PCBs. I don't know how usable you'd find it if you had to do more complex things, but it certainly has abilities beyond my needs. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
