Carry on.

Wait, wasn't banning handguns supposed to make the place safer? Oh, that's right, criminals are criminals regardless of what tools they use. I doubt the British will figure that out.

Yes, unfortunetly some of our youth are stupid. However, I still feel our society as a whole isn't crumbling to knife crime.

no it was meant to reduce gun crime and freak mass killings like Dunblane. Despite your misinformed views we didn't think a handgun ban was miraculously going to eliminate crime altogether.

Personally I'd rather have these paranoid youths carrying knifes than firearms.

Overall violent crime in England and Wales is down 41% since 1995.

Why? Are you suggesting that British people are somehow inferior. That sounds terribly narrow minded to me.

I'm going to save us about six pages of posts:

"See, you think not having guns makes you safer, but it doesn't"

"Yeah, but we still have less violent murders than the U.S."

"Where are the people trying to ban knives?"

"Knives have more than one purpose"

"So do guns, for protection and hunting and just for target shooting"

"But nobody has killed 20 or more people at once with a knife like at Columbine & Virginia Tech"

"Maybe if good citizens were able to carry guns instead of just criminals having them, some of these disaster would have been stopped."

"Typical, your solution to violence is just more violence"

"What other solution is there?"

Then there would be more nationalistic chest thumping and anti and pro US sentiment and then John Turner would come in with and lock the thread.

All in favor of a preemptive closing? At least it means no TOS bannings.

I'm going to make some waffles. See you in a few pages. . .

Outstanding! Saved me some typing, thank you. Man, I never knew being right all the time was going to be such a burden.

Oh, one last note. My favorite part of that article was learning that Scotland Yard's Deputy Assistant Commissioner is named Alf Hitchcock.

That cracked me up as well. I envisioned some guy that looked like Alf and Alfred Hitchcock

Perhaps you should consider this report. You will notice in Chapter 1 that knife crime in the UK has remained relatively stable over the last 10 years:

http://www.crimeandjustice.org.uk/op...ife_report.pdf

Then you could update the figures from the latest BCS survey which was released last week which confirm the same thing. Check this thread for details:

New BCS Report on crime in the UK released

The you could consider whether maybe its just scaremongering:

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/200...t_about_k.html

Or, you could just continue with your poor attempt at trolling. Epic fail.

At least I started my discussion with a question instead of sarcasm trying to get an aggravated response

With that I am out of this thread.

TalkBass is very Pro-Gun, I am not. Instead of getting blue in the face all over again I agree good ol' JT should end it.

The great thing about the new "can't delete your threads" modification is when someone posts an epic fail attempt at trolling like this, they can't delete it to hide it from the mods.

Provide some evidence to support your view that it is "oft touted" that the UK is a peaceful society? Or was that just your own "artistic expression" for the purpose of sensationalism?

How many times have I read where the UK membership BOASTS about how safe and peaceful the UK is?? A locked door is all they need for protection. The cops have no need to be armed, etc., etc., etc., etc..............

Please refer to The Joker for further information on the subject of firearms versus knives.

There is a little bias, I think.
