I'm looking to get some smoke clearing advice from any of you who know the answer to my question. I'm looking to earn my CPA in Illinois in the next two years. I understand that 150 credit hours are needed minimum to take the exam, including 24 hours of accounting at the undergraduate level. I'm earning my undergrad in May with a concentration in Aviation Administration, and I would like to earn my MBA with a concentration in Accountancy and Finance thereafter and have the CPA certification. I've read one source that states you need 24 hours in accountancy at the undergrad level or 15 hours at the graduate level, which the program I'm entering into has the 15 credit hours at that level and appears to have the AACSB certification, though I'll double check that. Would I be allowed to take the CPA after completing the 15 credit hours of accounting within the MBA, or am I screwed for not having earned my undergrad in accountancy?
Sorry if this is too much of a n00b question, but after taking a course in accountancy last semester, I realized not only was it actually fun, I have natural aptitude for it, something I can't say about too many other things, so it'd be a disappointment if I can't go for it right away after graduating without going back into undergraduate studies. Anyways, thanks for any advice you guys have to offer! |
