So I had a show at my college earlier in the night, it was alright all things considered. I got the phone number of the girl from my english class who bears a passing resemblance to Liz Vicious, had a bite to eat. So far so good.
Got mugged on the train.
Twice.
I get on the train, and I'm fumbling with my hard case and trying to put my metro in my wallet one handed. Some guy asks me for the time, I go sure, and go to look at my watch and BAM! Right in the back of the head. Took my wallet (A whopping $30, my CVS card, and my IDs) and my bass case
So now I'm out of a bass until I can get home and get an old one from there, or I buy a new one. I just got the thing too, so there goes a grand.
WHO STEALS A BASS?!
Just got back an hour ago from filing a police report, but what pisses me off is that there were other people on the train who did NOTHING.
/rant
So I guess be on the lookout for a new Fender P, Olympic White, Tort Guard, Maple Neck. It's got an In-N-Out sticker on the treble side of the pickguard, and an STP sticker on the back under the neck plate. Its also fretless to boot. I'll post a picture up here after I can get to my laptop, (minus the stickers) and I'm contacting the store I bought it from to get the S/N hopefully.
Any advise from TBers as to what I should do now aside from scouring craigslist and ebay?

I hate to say it, but you might consider getting a lockable strap like they use for courier bags when travelling on public transportation.

Did you get knocked out or something, or just startled enough not to react right away?
And what about the second mugging?

And what about the second mugging? | I got hit in the back of the head with something and fell, the guy and I'm guessing his friend took my wallet and my bass. By the time I got up, they had already left the train. No body else on the train intervened even though there was at least a dozen people on it. They just watch.
I'm left afterwards humiliated, because I didn't get a chance to fight back (not that I was in a position to anyways) and hurt that my bass and my IDs for school, work, and my Drivers License all got yanked. So now I have to go through the hassle of getting new ones (I have to pay for that) and I'm out the money thats on my student ID (which I use to print things and eat) and all I got to show for it is a giant bump on the back of my head.

Dude... I really hope you get your bass back.

I'm constantly coming back and forth from the rehearsal spaces on 30th at weird hours of the night and it's something I'm really worried about, I started shelling out for cabs on the way home. Rule number one that I've always had: ignore everyone. I don't answer random people I just keep walking, unless it's to help a pregnant/old woman, I ignore everyone around me. If you don't stop they have to catch you.

Whenever I'm on the train I just keep to myself. Sometimes if I'm feling like something might go down, I'll just start hard mugging people. I've never been messed with (luckily). But I'm sure it could happen to anyone. Hope you get your bass back.
When I was going to BIT, a freind of mine was walking home from class one day when a couple of guys approached him and smacked him around a bit, took his wallet and his bass. They took off but came right back and hit hima few more times and took his book bag. People like that suck.

ASK!
