Creative Zen owners help!

My zen is screwing up and it's driving me nuts.

2 days ago it fell in slush after it dropped out of my pocket. About 1/2 an hour after it fell it was working fine. The next day it starts glitching again. Now whenever I listen to a song (even on hold) random commands go on, it tends to shut off and turn on by itself, also when I'm listening to music it switches to a random radio station. It's freakin frustrating when I just had school, want to listen to some music, then when I'm blasting out some Pantera it randomly goes on to the French pop music station, I don't want to listen to Celine Dion!!!

Anybody know what to do, i've reset it a few times but the problem is still there. Do you think it's worth the repair or should I buy a new MP3, that will be a pain I paid partially for this before, have no money now and I don't think my parents will buy me a new one.

Sucks, I got kind of dependent on listening to music every day, and I get kind of stressed without it in the morning.

try emailing creative. If you still have your warranty on it they don't ask whats wrong. Just say you were out shoveling the snow and it shut off, thats what i did with my ipod.

Now I have a 4gb zen yay.

I bought it slightly used, so the warranty ain't valid, besides 1 year passed anyways.

Ehhh I hate to do it but i think I'm gonna have to ask my parents to buy me a new one.

I always feel like a little spoiled **** when I do that.

(BTW they don't want me to get a job really, and it's hard to find one over here)

Is there a way you can open it up. Maybe theres still moisture inside causing the problems.

I had a similar problem. I downloaded the new firmware from Creative site. Of course, by doing that, I erased all the songs in it. And I'm talking about 15 GB worth of songs.
It's working fine afterward.

Unless it's one of those large Zen Visions or whatever, with the video screens, it probably won't be worth repairing it or replacing it. As evil as it may sound, you may just want to get an iPod

yah it is but i won't pay 40$ to fix it, might as well just get new, besides mine is pretty beat up.

Amazingly enough it started working again flawlessly, wow. It had to happen right after i got a new one though, luckily there is a 30 day return policy so if my old one doesn't f up in about two weeks I'll return the new one.

My god though, Creative Zens are bbuild solid if it can go through all this, I've dropped it numerous times and it just keeps on goin.

I'd leave it off near a radiator for a few days then try it again.

If that doesn't work it might not hurt to update the firmware as was said.

Although if it fell in slush and it's going screwy afterwards it's probably moisture related.

How do you make the logical jump to where he should get an iPod? I'd hardly call it the devices fault for him dropping it, and also dropping it into slush nonetheless!

It is probably not worth it to get it replaced though, probably better off getting a new one.

See my post, #8. An Ipod could not last through what my Zen has been through.

I just feel Apple has has a better product at a better pricepoint. There is also a lot more support for iPods as well as accessories. The Zen is not a popular player as much as it was years ago. If I was to get rid of my Zen, I'd go right to Apple.

Apples aren't robust at all and **** accessories I don't need an excuse to spend more $$. Itunes sucks because you can't transfer songs easily and you can't get songs from the player on the computer.

my Zen has a feature where if I slide the power button all the way to the right, it "locks" everything so the buttons don't work and it stays in the exact mode it was in when i lock it. if yours has a similar feature, you may want to try that. if not, you may want to open whatever panels there are (although there may be none whatsoever) and submerge it in a container filled with silica gel pellets (sold commercially as a weird kind of cat litter) for a few days to try and extract all the moisture.
