Oh OK, so if Trevor Chappell apologised for the underarm incident later that evening, that would have been the end of it? I don't think so! We as Aussies are still very embarrassed by that incident. How can you simply brush it aside just because he apologised?

I had a lot of respect for Collingwood. Not any more....... What was he thinking?

Wha??

I looked at the clip on youtube... I don't understand the game of cricket, so who was at fault? Was Sidebottom supposed to yield or the other guy?

I went you tube searching to see what you cricket-heads were on about.

Is this the big broohaha?

After watching that clip all I can say is...

..."Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

I will add that that was the most excitement I have EVER witnessed while sleeping through a crickett match.

I don't know anything about cricket either. But the English guy certainly is at fault IMO. I mean really, did he actually think he was going to get to the ball before colliding with the batsman?

THe issue isn't the collision itself, but that the player was able to be "run out" whilst lying injured on the pitch (kinda like being caught "off base" in baseball). The English captain could have rescinded the "run out" and let the player keep batting, but he chose to enforce the out even though it was clearly impossible for the player to get back to his crease.

Collingwood behaved like an absolute bounder!

But, it is Elliott's responsibility to get himself out of the way unless he's being wilfully obstructed (which he wasn't). He was perfectly entitled to be run out, although it was against the spirit of the game, and Colly should have withdrawn his appeal.

They should REALLY institute Instant Replay in those wild cricket matches... things are moving so fast I don't know how they EVER get a call right!!

Really? So why did Collingwood apologise if he has nothing to apologise for?

I was always taught the batsman has the right of way. Whether or or not it's an official rule I'm not sure, but that's how it almost always pans out, and that's certainly how we as youngsters were coached.

But it's not about the collision. Accidents happen. It's about running a guy out after one of your players caused him to be lying flat on his back! It was incredibly bad sportsmanship and I'm ecstatic that Eng lost the game on the last ball from an overthrow. Karma if ever I saw it........

On the other hand, maybe we've found a new way to get Pietersen out when he's on a roll - knock him over, make it look like an accident, run him out. Dear God don't let it ever come to that.......
