I need to destroy this thing:

I have taken it upon myself to throw out this piece of junk which has been sitting in one of my company's warehouses; it takes up space, nobody likes it, but because it's so big, nobody wants to go through the hassle of breaking it down. Well, I've had enough, and it's got to go. It's built like a tank, and the whole thing is 13' x 2' x 7'. All I have is a circular saw, a small sledgehammer and other general tools (hammers, screwdrivers, etc), and unrivalled disdain with which to attack it. There is no easy way to take it apart, because the douchenozzle who built it stripped half the screws.

I have a game plan in mind, but suggestions are welcome. Progress pics will be posted.

What the hell is it? It looks like solid hardwood, you might wanna demo it so you/someone can recycle the wood. I'd use a sawzall.

Depending on the blade you have, the circ should do the trick. But a Sawzall and a sledge is my weapon of choice for demo.

It was originally a display unit for a leather upholstery company (I work for a furniture store). It's mostly hardwood with some plywood. Heavy as hell, a few hundred pounds, I don't wanna hazard a precise guess though.

1. Sixth-floor window.
2. Sledge
3. Cordless sawzall with a big battery pack.

alternatively, that looks like a nice starting point for a 2x10 + 2x12 + 3x15 + 2x36U rack combo chassis. Even a nice big slot for the port on the front. Couple of rattle cans of black paint and you have an awesome rig ;-)

****STOP****

Craigslist. Someone will buy that from you, gaurantee it. Make money in the deal instead of hurting yourself trying to break it with those kiddie tools.

Sorry Mike. This is personal. I have been wishing for this thing's destruction for over two years now. The only reason it's been here this long is because my immediate superior insisted on keeping it for storage purposes. Well, since that person got laid off, the fate of this thing is finally in my hands.

And don't worry, I'm very experienced with those kiddie tools. I was raised by a handyman thankfully, so this stuff is fun more than anything else, for me. Part of the fun lies in actually coming up with a way to successfully dismantle it with such limited resources.

Sounds like you got it under control. Go find those dudes from the Capital One commercials to lend you a hand.

Put it outside with a sign that says "Free!" and it will be gone quickly. If not, donate it or recycle it. Someone, somewhere will take it if they don't have to pay to do it.

Curse you naysayers. The circular is plugged in. Details forthcoming.

Ah, I love a good demolition, especially when it's something you've hated looking at for a while. Did that with some gawd-awful furniture my ex-wife bought.

A few well placed saw cuts, and then drag out the sledge! Nothing more satisfying than pounding the **** into oblivion!

And a note to the naysayers: Some things just HAVE to be destroyed.
