Crush a stereotype of your home state

I haven't had the opportunity to travel around the states as much as I would like but always find that when I do, the common perceptions and stereotypes are usually less than half true.

Here's a few of mine (California):

Most of us don't surf

We're not all city folk, lot's of redneck farmers here (we supply 1/3 of US agriculture products).

We're not all Liberal (We've elected several Republican govs, squashed gay marriage and didn't legalize marijuana)

Although, I surf, I'm liberal and live in a city

Now whatchoo got????

The stereotypes of Oregon are all true. Not everyone fits all of them of course, because far-right loggers and far-left tree-huggers are usually not the same people, but in total the caricatures are all valid.

Yeah, I don't think the Cali stereotypes are very true. It's a pretty culturally diverse place. I'm born and bred here though so I can say the folks here are mostly full of ****. Nice folks, just full of ****, that's all. Ya just gotta learn to let the doo doo roll off your back after awhile and it's fine. A beautiful place, really. Nowhere else I'd rather be.

Full of **** in what way? There are plenty of genuine people in this state. Im a native myself, but Ive traveled. People in general can be full of ****, why specify others from the same region?

Unfortunately I can't.

We all wear flipflops everywhere except work and Church, and those are optional some times.
We all hate tourist season.
We do have hurricane parties.
We don't like the snow birds except that they spend a lot of money here.
We all know at least a few words of Spanish, at least enough to order a Cuban Sandwich and a Cafe con Leche.
We really don't go to Disney world all that often.
We really do pull out our heavy coats when the thermostat hits the 60s.
We do all have pretty decent tans.
We do know that parking isn't about how far away you are from the store, it's about whether you're under a tree or not.

Florida.

Well, I haven't traveled a whole bunch, so yeah, it very well may be the same all over the world. Seems pretty prevelant around here, though. I'm not complaing about it though. Like I said, I've learned to live with it. It's all beautiful.

Yeah, its the same the world over, man. Anywhere you go you'll find someone full of it.
I dont think the percentage is much higher in Ca than elsewhere, unless youre talking to people in the entertainment industry in LA.

Probably the truest of all stereotypes ever stated, dude.

The stereotypes of Seattle are true in my experience, but most see the entire state of Washington through the lens of Seattle. The NW has lots of crazies on both end of the political spectrum. In the space of a few weeks in 2008 I heard my neighbor wail about the Bush FEMA camps to imprison liberals and then (after the election) I friend told me about the Obama FEMA camps to imprison conservatives.

We have marijuana legalized now, but that had a lot of libertarian support as well as liberal.

Rain is misunderstood. East of the Cascades is arid. West has the same annual rainfall as the midwest, just spread out in more days with less per day. Many areas even west of the Cascades are relatively dry. The area I live in gets 17 inches of rain a year.

edit- If you're going west of the Olympics though, you'd better be packing Gore-tex.

I can't dispell any Maryland stereotypes either...in fact I'm not sure I know of any. But here are some generalizations from the Chesapeake Bay area:

We love to eat blue crabs, rockfish, and oysters.
We go downey oshun.
We causasian folk are a strange preppy/redneck hybrid.
We like boats and labradors.
We hate the Steelers.
