I sure hope this thread doesn't go negative, because regardless of what I think about the big issues here I think this site just plain rocks:

With all the shoddy engineering and half-assed mechanical work you see nowadays, this sort of thing gives one hope for the future.

(PS: It's been said that at least two of the vehicles here may have been snared in international waters. Any sailors here who can verify?)

i saw a special on automotive life in Cuba once. a lot of those classic cars are basically a bunch of parts from different cars welded together. sometimes you'll find things like a Chevy with a Volga engine and Ford axles. they can't get any parts from out of Cuba due to the embargo (if they can, it's too expensive), which even led one guy to start a business of making brake pads from asbestos. i envy the fact that they don't have gratuitous amounts of vehicle safety and emission laws.
