Customizing MySpaceMusic Sites?

Sign in to disble this ad
OK, so the stock MySpaceMusic site looks like a doggy's bottom (never mind the playback quality!).

However, some more professional acts manage to have tweaked their sites extensively without exceeding the allowable mods guidelines.

Are there any sites that go into tips for tweaking the MySpaceMusic templates for a more distinctive presence?

Any other tips?

Thanks for any helpful input!

I'd just copy what most other artists are doing with their pages right now.

Here are a few that I like from bands that I listen to:

That brief promo video in the first example is exceptionally well-done in a professional advertising sense. Very dynamic and persuasive!

Eh, can't say the same for the band and music.

The site's a pretty slow load, though. Too much graphic content.

It loads within a couple seconds for me

It's so frustrating with new Myspace band sites, they make older computers like mine freeze up often. I wish they all would go for perhaps a little simpler approach =/

Took over a minute to load on a decently fast line here. I'd be long gone before that, usually.

Probably because

1: You already had most of the content in your browser temporary files from a previous load, or

2: You have an unusually fast hi-speed connection.

Remember, there are a LOT of people still on dialup, like nearly half, and you don't want to completely blow them off.

The excellent video was worth loading from the band's standpoint, but there was a high level of graphic waste on that site...as with most others.

Which brings up another point, having control over content. I've never been clear on that, but I would need to be positive I had executive yes/no on everything that showed on the site including all visitor junk. I don't see that exercised much, so I'm wondering if it's a problem.
