YES.

Especially when you can tell your neighbors gawk when you don't cut it the same.

I have a 2.5 year old and a newborn. I don't have time to worry about mowing straight lines and making sure my dandelions are pulled.

They are retired and have the time to nitpick.

These are the same people that drag a trashcan behind them in their yard to pick up all misc debris and actually pay someone to spray chemicals in their yard to kill mics weeds when we are all on wells.

I am sorry, it isn't a golf course, they are poisoning the groundwater. For what? A pretty lawn.

I make sure I cut my grass when the wind in blowing their way to get all of my white fluffies from the dandelions.

Yes it is pretentious.

And yes, you hit a sore spot with me

I saw a shirt the other day that read: I wish my Lawn were Emo so it would cut itself.....

I personally cut my lawn in a diminishing square (start at the outside edges of the yard and work your way in...

If you have a home like that, you probably don't cut your own lawn. Hell, I don't even cut my own lawn My guy does it diagonally one week and lengthwise the next. It keeps the grass on edge

Only about 1% of the water on Earth at any given time can be consumed safely. I think that was the other posters point.

That would probably change my lawn watering routine. Until then, I pay for it, therefore, I USE it

I do ... I also mow horizontally and vertically .... it's best not to mow in the same pattern too often. Besides lookin nice, it keeps the grass from growing in a in one set direction (beside up ) ... it also keeps down on the build-up of thatch.

However I only mow diagonally every once in a while... it's a bit of a pain if you don't use a push mower, or zero radius mower... plus takes about twice as long.

thats the way i used to do it, I'm not sure why but it drove my dad up a wall. then he would make me go back over it in the diagonal way since hes retired now he does it, I offer to do it, but he always says no, it gives him something to do

I for one will never, ever, never, never, never, use fertilizer ever again. I am the type that reads the directions and thinks, well they said 4 oz per gallon would be good, well 6 or 8 is even better. It has been five years since i fterilized and i swear on all things holy, my yard still grows like crazy compared to some nieghbors yards.

As far as watering goes, if you jokers want to mess with mowing it, go right ahead. I like the period in the summer when I can mow about every two weeks instead of every week, or twice a week.

To be pretentious mow straight across and then mow diagonally on the same day.
I have done this, but my lawns aren't very big. Looks cool.

+1, I love it when the thing turns brown for the summer! No fuss, no muss.
