My sister is off to Vegas with her pal - and without me! Grrrrr. I've been to Vegas on a few occasions, but the last time was eight years ago now.

Maybe I'll get there again next year. And stop by San Francisco, too. No visit to the Western US is complete without that. Wonderful city, along with NYC it's one of my favourite places.

In fact, typing this has decided me. Next year I'm going to do, for the fourth time, my big circle tour of the West. Vegas - Death Valley - Sierras (stopped in Bishop the last couple of times) - Yosemite - San Francisco - Pacific Coast - LA - San Diego - back out through the desert to Vegas for my flight home. Hopefully will catch up with a few of my TalkBass pals on the trip (Bob Lees, Munji) and maybe meet a few more, too. Including, of course, our long lost West Midlands English chap - Maki.

I'll probably fly via NYC so I can also see the East Coast NY GTG brigade while I'm Stateside.

What's to see in Vegas? Except for casinos?

When you're in the LA - San Diego portion of the tour let me know. I'll buy you a beer.

Vegas has nothing for me. All I do when I'm in town is try to find a show that interests me and catch it. I've never liked gambling - or had any money that I'm willing to risk - so the main purpose of going to Vegas is null and void to me. I'd rather 'waste" $160 on a Squier Jag that I might sell six months later than drop $20 into a slot machine or at the blackjack table.

But - as a western US resident - - - -

Don't miss the Riverwalk in San Antonio - one of the truly enjoyable places in the US.

See the Oregon coast around Cannon Beach....has to be one of the most gorgeous places in the world. if you can, drive up to Astoria and climb the Astoria Column, too.

Visit Seattle and the Pike Place market - and while you're at it, walk downhill to Ivar's Seafood Restaurant and have dinner at a Seattle landmark.

In San Diego, you GOTTTA go to Phil's BBQ. Best place in the area.

You'll buy several. I'm staying at least two nights at your house.

Now that sounds a great reason to visit.

Well, I've flown right over it. It looks kinda nice from 30,000 feet. But also very quiet.

And I've been just inside, to see Niagara falls.

I think Bassybill wants to go someplace where they have different people on the money. I mean really, how many portraits of the queen are there?

I might add - when I was last in Canada I totally failed to meet Mark Wilson and he totaly FAILED to meet me. We were pretty close, too. It was a matter of minutes.
