Danzig cancels show because "stage not big enough"

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a friend who lives in Minnesota and was going to be taking pics at a show Danzig was headlining last night. Apparently his crew got everything set up and then Mr. Danzig said the stage wasn't big enough and pulled out. The rest of the bands played for free.

I guess it wasn't big enough to hold the guy's ego or something. Pretty lame.

Danzig has done this in the past, canceling shows at the last minute with no explanation. This happened in Santa Cruz, CA around 2006. Glen Danzig certainly has his reputation.

I'd be pissed if I had to rawk the corner stage at the Holiday Inn Lounge too. Don't blame him. Just put away the pyro and lose the belt buckle...you're gonna put an eye out, son.

Well if he were still (ever?) relevant, he wouldn't have to play Holiday Inn gigs.

I saw him during the summer, awesome show, he sang great, but he's a total weirdo. He played with Doyles new band Gorgeous Frankstein, they were alright. They wouldn't allow any flash photography of any sort because Glenn hates it.He really screwed over his fans to cancel a gig cause the stage wasn't big enough. You can tell it's all gone to his head.

Wouldn't his management know how big of a stage Danzig wanted?

Of maybe he's a huge flake.

If I remember correctly, Danzig must have some part of the Napoleon complex. He takes up less space on stage than my half stack.

what I was doing there, was bein cheeky. sarcastic. a bit of acidic wit. Tryin to, in a round-a-bout way say the dude doesn't exactly "command" the big stages these days.

Oh he "commands" it, but in the same way little girls want a unicorn for Christmas.

He needed more kitty litter.

Danzig buys kitty litter while wearing Danzig shirt.

My understanding is that the venue he was playing is regarded as a decent rock venue (though small). He should be blaming his manager for booking him at a place that didn't meet his stage requirements, though.

Danzig owns a cat? I'd figure a fire breathing pit bull with rabies on steroids would have been the perfect compliment. Oddly enough, somehow I have a feeling his cat has a wimpy name like Mr. Jinglekins or something.

OTOH, he should have gotten 3 more boxes so he could pump iron while he shopped.

The Cabooze does have a rather small stage but I have seen 9 piece bands with a Hammon play there. Dr. John & Leon Russell never had a problem with it.

Does anyone still care about Danzig? Doesn't he have people to buy his groceries and Kitty Litter?

That is LAME!! Good reason not to be a fan. A band makes the best of what they got, end of story. If they can't, they don't belong on tour...
This guy doesn't realise how hard it is for some fans to make arrangements to see him perform, how some might have taken a day off work and lose pay to see him? What happened to the SHOW MUST GO ON? Is there no loyalty to the fans who give their loyalty back?

Yep, I'm comparing .......but My favorite guys in Tarot just had some small stages in Europe, so small Zac couldn't wander as much as normal...the ceiling looked so low they could touch it. Tommi has a horrid failed root canal and in pain for 3 weeks while on tour, feeding on painkillers as much as he can but the show must go on. Marco fell through a hole(!) in a stage in Germany, gained a huge nasty painful bruise on his upper leg, but show must go on. That's a band that deserves loyal fans, not this Danzig guy. What an idiot. Boo hoo stage too small...waaahhhh.....

I believe I also see two packs of diapers in there. Who knew Glenn Danzig was so domesticated?
