I have. The outcome was that it got very awkward at work after we broke up.

Don't do it. Unless her or you get a different job.

Don't do it unless this job is just a stepping stone to something better. As a supervisor I can't acknowledge any of the winks and flirts I receive without getting the hook straight to HR and out the door.

If it works out well, it's wonderful.

If not, it's HELL.

Advice from a friend who's had it fail, and work. Two different times.

no experience myself, but my brother met his girlfriend of over two years in the workplace. they now live together. i can see things going further, but who knows.

its on case-by-case basis, but i would tend to think it doesnt end well, as most relationships (dating or marriage) do not last. depending on your position/authority, it could be misconstrued.

that said, if theyre really hot, go for it.

Dating? No. A pre-established schedule for meeting in the alley out back? Yes.

These days your job is much, much more important than getting some @$$. You can always find that somewhere else. At some point it will become very, very awkward and you will want to quit. Fortunately I found that out 11 years ago when the job market was much better than it is right now.

Isn't there an old saying that goes "don't $h*t where you eat"?

If by date you mean hooked up with, I can't say I advise that either.

I think damn near every one of the chefs has slept with a server, and rarely does it ever work out.

Done it twice (three times counting a one night stand that was not worth the weirdness that followed) with very different results. The first time we had a very rocky relationship that included two fights at work that could have gotten both of us fired. Fortunately I left that job soon after.

Second time the relationship was good, but actually got better after I quit for a new job and we didn't see each other constantly. A little space is healthy. I've never understood married couples that work together. That would drive me nuts.

Done it once, never again. Seen other people do it many times - 3/4 of the time it's not a good idea. But that last 1/4 of the time ... maybe it's worth the risk.

Depends if it's something special or just passing the time.
