DC/Northern VA Music Stores

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got about a week left on my vacation up here, and I'd like to go to some local music stores. Can anyone recommend some good music stores in the DC/Northern VA area? I'm not talking about GC or stores like that, but something that deals more in boutique/high end gear. Or even, good mom/pop type stores that have decent gear.

Thanks in advance.

As awesome as JiveSound is there is at least one other place worth checking out: Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center. The place has a nice selection of basses and rigs.

I wish I got on here earlier. I was out in Alexandria today and had I known about Jive's place, I would've stopped in to check out his inventory. I suppose I can always go back later in the week though.

It's in Wheaton, which is close by. For something closer to VA, Atomic Music might be worth a look. It's a used music gear store but they always seem to have cool bass stuff. Lots of players around here trade in some crazy cool stuff. I've seen Brubakers, Stambaughs, a Tom Clement, Dingwalls, along with other nice basses and rigs.

If you make it down to Lynchburg, don't waste your time looking for a shop...there's nothing here.

In the last few weeks alone I've picked up a Stewart PA-100B for $75, an Aria SWB Lite EUB for $235 and I just picked up a Peavey Pro Bass preamp dirt cheap at Atomic Music, which is mainly a used gear store. I bought my singlecut R Bass 5 there and a bunch of other stuff, all for great to phenomenal prices. It is well worth a stop when in the area. You never know what will turn up there.

Atomic is in Beltsville, near College Park... about 15 min. farther away from VA than Chuck's in Wheaton.

Scored pretty good used gear today. Bought a Les Paul and Spector. I think the Spectors a Rebop. I'll post pics after I some spare time to polish them up and take the pics. Probably next week sometime when I get back to Florida.
