Maybe I should look under my gutters for the remains of previous homeowners.

Some people are just dying to get to the top.

This thread has sent me on a YouTube fest of watching documentaries about Everest and the other deadly 8,000M mountains. I just watched an hour long documentary where along the way, a seasoned vet stops, points to the distance showing a body halfway covered in snow, says something to the effect of "There is [Name], he died there when we both tried climbing last year" and just trudged on. Sobering.

Commercialized or not, that's still a lot of dead bodies. You have to be a bit insane to make that kind of ascent.

There's some more photos (and even a short video) here, if anyone is interested. Some of the photos are the same.

That was interesting. The video must be a NZ production or a lot of kiwis involved. If you want to hear some authentic weird vowel sounds you're in the right place.

If I were given two options:

1) Get into shape, get some experience climbing and climb (not necessarily to the top but to some elevation) Everest.

2) Get on a plane and fly for 4+ hours.

I'd probably choose #1.

I'd choose #2 without hesitation only if I were given the chance to learn piloting and I'd fly the plane.

Yes, planes scare the **** out of some people that much even though it is the safest type of travel.

It's actually a bit more than 1000 feet.
The death rates are also a lot lower than what your previous post stated.

Kind sounds like my reason for hating amusement parks. Stand in line for 2 hours for a few minutes trip on a coaster...no thanks.

40-60 days of cold and suffering for a 30 minute exposure, dead people all around and my life on the line? No thanks I will enjoy the pics or video.
