| | | | Cheesy as they were, I loved a lot of Warrant's tunes. It was really sad to see Jani on Celebrity Rehab. I'm not going to speculate on the cause of his death, but it sounds like he was still facing demons.

Drugs are bad. |

EDIT: Link fixed.

EDIT: Link fixed. | He was deceased while Dr. Drew worked with him? That's awful. A doctor not realizing it...

| | | It is amazing how many of these *cough* celebrities *cough* are dying with "Dr. Drew" somewhere in the article. Quote: |
"Rehab" singer Amy Winehouse, who died at the age of 27 in London last week, tried to enlist the help of celebrity recovery expert Dr. Drew Pinsky in the days before her death, the "Celebrity Rehab" host told Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM on Friday.
| Quote:
Early in his career, Jeff Conaway was best known for his acting roles in the hit TV show “Taxi” and the classic film “Grease.”
Later in his career, he was famous for his appearance in the 2008 season of Dr. Drew Pinsky’s “Celebrity Rehab.”
Conaway died last week, his manager initially blaming a prescription medication overdose for his fall into a fatal coma. However, Pinsky insists that Conaway died not of an overdose, but of complications related to prescription drug use.
| Quote: |
"Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness," tweeted Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Starr on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab" and the spin-off show "Sober House." "So very sad. Our prayers are with his family."

However, I do know a little about addiction. I think they figure less than 5% of people trying to get sober will actually stay sober for any length of time. I have 22 years of sobriety and I have seen so many people try and fail. Some keep trying and keep failing. AA, which many people consider the best method of maintaining sobriety, figures the 5% number. I do not think I would blame any doctor for having patients that relapse. And most people who relapse will end up in jail, the hospital or at the morgue, which for celebrities brings news coverage.
Dr. Drew may be a complete wanker, but trying to insinuate he is one because some celebrities he may have tried to help could not stay sober is rather disingenuous.

However, it is interesting that he certainly doesn't seem to waste any time telling the world that (dead celeb of the week) was consulting with him he/she died. It must be profitable.
Regarding Mr. Lane, I grew up in the 80s and liked a few of Warrant's songs, though I wasn't a huge fan. However, I recall being amazed that someone could use a banjo in a rock song and make it sound cool. |

RIP.
